Self Defense / BJJ F Fundamentals

Our Classes are done in a very controlled environment, where safety always comes first. Instructors make sure that care is taken in every movement taught, and the importance of student safety is of the utmost. In the Fundamentals Class, we cover basic Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) techniques and the fundamental movements of Jiu-Jitsu, including self-defense strategy and maneuvers. Students will learn how to fall, stand up, engage opponents, escape holds, apply basic take-downs, and apply basic submissions. The elemental movements you master here will prepare you for all subsequent levels.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art focusing largely on grappling and ground fighting. It focuses on the principles of leverage and proper technique to obtain dominant control on the ground, and provides a greater position to resolve conflict by using submission holds.

BJJ has been proven, when used properly, to be an effective method for dealing with bigger and stronger opponents and has become increasingly popular due in part to its great success in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). A student can train in BJJ for self defense, sport jiu-jitsu (and submission grappling) and mixed martial arts competition. It has found its way into the training regiment of nearly every successful martial artist worldwide.

Kids Program

Our Little Phenom program provides children 4-8 years old with the basics of jiu-jitsu and self-defense. This program revolves around the children’s interests and needs. The best learning environment stems from activities that are challenging but attainable. Classes start with a warm up of basic jiu-jitsu movements important for building good habits and promote body awareness. Then we move onto lessons where we explain the use of the technique as well as safety tips. Our lessons are presented as games, so your child will be learning and advancing while they play. At this age we help our Little Phenoms learn cooperation, discipline, respect for themselves and others, and improving their motor skills. For each belt we strive to meet certain goals that will lead to success in competition and growth at home. If they are able to complete the techniques, listen, follow instruction, and understand mat behavior, they will be ranking up before they know it.
